=== Ryan Funkhouser (University of Idaho) === [[File:ryan_funkhouser_headshot.jpeg|thumb|200px|Me acting professional after balancing my phone on the back of a chair jusssst right to snap this photo]] :'''Pronouns:''' he/him Hey! My name is Ryan Funkhouser, I'm an assistant professor of communication in the Department of Psychology and Communication at the University of Idaho. My work is driven by a desire to understand (and improve) communication across difference online. In particular, I study how technology and communication processes interact to promote both division and understanding online. To explore these processes, a lot of my work explores narrative and persuasion in contexts like Reddit and other online communities. I completed my Ph.D. at Purdue University where I was first introduced to the Community Data Science Collective as I worked with Dr. Jeremy Foote. I earned an interdisciplinary humanities M.A. at Trinity Western University in British Columbia where I studied rhetoric and communication. I originally hail from the beautiful city of Bellingham, Washington, a place which gave me a deep love for the outdoors. Youβll usually find me outside going for walks or running mountain trails whenever I can. </div>
