'<h1>About the project:</h1> <b>Dear friends of philosophies,</b> if you have landed on this page of my science and philosophy blog „philosophies.de“, then you have already found my „message in a bottle“ in the „sea of information“ . Because philosophies represents the attempt to give the different disciplines from the science and philosophy a medial mouthpiece, which they need from my view more urgently than ever. Every self-respecting business enterprise engages in „public relation“ (PR). However, it is precisely this „public relation“ that the scientific community lacks for its media appreciation and general awareness. So how about a „science relation“ (SR)? „Because they have never been as valuable as they are today!“ (modified quote from a „witty“ advertisement from 1925). The different essays („somewhat longer blogs“ 😉 on philosophies shall therefore deal with the manifold aspects of science and philosophy in our present time. The aim is to blow away the dust from the old book covers and to enable the way out of the lonely ivory tower. Therein lies the real rationale for this site: „[the] pursuit of knowledge of the meaning of life, the nature of the world, and the place of man in the world; doctrine, science of the knowledge of the meaning of life, the world, and the place of man in the world.“ (https://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/Philosophie) To this day, nothing has changed in this human quest for knowledge in the disciplines of the natural sciences, as well as the humanities. On the contrary, the search for the deeper meaning and the larger context has become even stronger from my point of view. For this reason, the intention of most of the articles published here is to achieve a high degree of interdisciplinarity in order to find solutions to the big questions of science and philosophy together in a kind of „joint venture„. However, the project explicitly does not claim to treat the topics scientifically „ex cathedra„, but would like to make the findings from the natural sciences and humanities accessible to a broader readership. The same purpose is served by the interview series on our Youtube channel „Zoomposium“, which I run together with my blogger colleague Axel Stöcker from die-grossen-fragen.com. Zoomposium tries to make popular science and philosophy content from various fields (e.g. cognitive neuroscience, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science,…) available to the public for free as interview videos. Otherwise, I’m always on the road with my „Diogenes lamp“ to find people who are also longing for a little „light of insight“. So if you have your own contributions or posts for my science/philosophy blog, keep them coming. They will be published on my site with your name as the author. „For only shared knowledge is increased knowledge.“ (not mathematically meaningful, but fortunately fitting). I would therefore be very happy about comments or even controversial submissions on my page, as long as they do not contain insults, obscenities, personal attacks, glorifying violence, racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist or otherwise discriminatory statements. (see „Digital Tribalism“). With this in mind, I look forward to receiving mail or posts from you. Philo Sophies'
