Greetings OpenSym 2017 PC members! More than 85% of authors (40 out of 47) have elected to take advantage of the new author response/rebuttal period at OpenSym 2017 this year. What this means is that we’re asking all of the PC members to do the following things: 1. Log back into EasyChair and read the author responses for any of the paper that you reviewed. Once you log into OpenSym 2017 on EasyChair, just click Reviews → My Papers → 🔎 Show Reviews. You will see the normal reviews and discussion and, at the very bottom, with a pink background, you will find the author response. 2. If necessary or helpful, please discuss the paper with the other PC members assigned to your paper using the comment feature in EasyChair. If you disagree with the metareview or if there are divergent scores, this is particularly important. 3. Finally, everyone is requested to “revise” your reviews if the author submitted a response. In particular, we’re asking everyone to (a) consider updating their numeric score and (b) to fill out a short new text box we’ve created called “Post-Author Response Comments.” Please leave your old review intact. You can revise your reviews by navigating to the discussion for the paper by clicking Reviews → My Papers → 🔎 Show Reviews and then by clicking the link marked “(revise)” in the line with your name on it under the heading “Summary of Received Reviews and Comment” at the top of the page. Your post-response comments can be minimal. Some of the authors spent a lot of time on these responses so please take the time to show that you’ve read them. Your update review are all DUE on June 30. There is no flexibility in this deadline. After that point, you will all be off the hook and the ACs assigned to your papers will make their final decisions. If you are interested in reading the messages we sent authors about the response and reviews, you can find our letter here: https://wiki.communitydata.cc/OpenSym2017/Invitation_to_respond Regards, Mako and Claudia
