The Community Data Science Collective uses two rooms at UW. The '''Community Data Science Lab''' in CMU 306 and the '''Community Data Science Meeting Room''' in CMU 333. Everybody in the CDSC at UW has their desk in the lab. This includes [[Benjamin Mako Hill]] -- who does ''not'' have a separate faculty office. If you are looking for someone check the lab first. If you can't find them, look in the meeting room because they might be in a meeting, reading, etc. Both the lab and meeting room on the third floor of the CMU building. <div class="toclimit-1"> __TOC__ </div> == Directions to the third floor of the CMU building == First, arrive at at the Communications Building (CMU) which you can find on the [https://uw.edu/maps/?cmu UW Maps website], [https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/47.65672/-122.30626&layers=C OpenStreetMap], [https://www.google.com/maps/place/Communications+Building+(CMU)/@47.6570956,-122.3074222,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x5490148da0ac79dd:0xfdcd1acd1e5380c1!8m2!3d47.6570956!4d-122.3052282 Google Map] or on any number of other mapping providers. The physical address of the building is: :4109 NE Stevens Way :Seattle, WA, 98195 Next, go to the third floor of the building. There are three stairwells to the building and all of them arrive at the third floor. There is also an elevator at south western corner of the building (facing south). The elevator is near Parking Area N22 which is between the CMU building and the HUB. == Community Data Science Lab (CMU 306) == The Community Data Science Lab at UW can be a little difficult to find. You can follow the following steps to get here. === Step 1: Technology Hallway === From the third floor, the building runs roughly east-west. The west end has the elevator, the east end has the main bathrooms. Toward the east end (but not around the corner with the bathrooms and stairs), you will need to find a sign with the room number '''CMU318''' that says '''Technology Hallway'''. The door and the hallway sign are pictured here. The Technology Hallway door is generally open from 9am through 9pm on weekdays but closed outside of this period and on weekends and holidays. If the door is locked, you will need to call someone who is inside. It is very unlikely that anybody in the lab will be able to hear knocking on this door. === Step 2: Community Data Science Lab === Once inside the hallway take a hard right. You will see a large set of full-length glass windows and glass doors to both the right and the left. Walk to the end of this hallway. The lab itself is the door at the end of the hallway on the left. You should be able to see everybody in the lab. We should see you too and be able to come let you in. If nobody notices you, knock on the window to get folks attention. <gallery> File:UW lab-CMU318 doorway.jpg||Enter this door into the '''Technology Hallway''' from the main hallway on the third floor of the CMU building. It is off the main corridor on the CMU building on the third floor and not hard to find. It has a sign next to the door and a CDSC sticker on it.
