Subject: OpenSym 2017 review response (submission [*NUMBER*])

Text: Dear [*FIRST-NAME*],

Thank you again for submitting your paper to 13th International Symposium on Open Collaboration (OpenSym 2017). Below with this message, you will find enclosed the preliminary reviews for your article.

For the first time at OpenSym, authors are being given the opportunity to write a response to their reviews before decisions are made by the Associate Chairs (ACs). Your response can be a maximum of 1000 words. Submitting a response is optional but must be done on or before June 16th. Your response will be seen by all PC members who have access to the discussion of your paper.

Once responses are submitted, reviewers will discuss your paper once again, and will have the option of updating their reviews and scores before the AC handling your paper makes a final decision. The AC may also invite additional reviews. The program committee will not directly respond to your response.

Although you can use your response to describe changes you plan to make to your manuscript before you submit a camera ready version, responses should be treated primarily as rebuttals and are not an invitation to revise and resubmit. When writing your response, focus first on any factual errors in the reviews and any questions posed by the reviewers. Do not provide new research results.

Please describe any minor changes you plan to make as clearly, explicitly, and concisely as possible. Keep in mind that the camera ready will only be reviewed the AC handling your paper. Manuscripts will not be accepted if the changes proposed in the response are significant enough that they would require undergoing a full peer-review process again.

Keep in mind the following dates:

- June 16: Responses are due.
- July 7: Final notification on paper acceptance will be sent.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have!

Best,
Mako and Claudia
Program Chairs for OpenSym 2017
